In Kempsey, NSW, our customers told us that to make an impact in their lives, the things that matter to them are health, liveability, social connection, empowerment, economic participation and education.
Our Test and Fix Pilot Program was designed around our customers’ feedback.
Funded by the Aboriginal Environmental Health Unit, over the next three years our Test and Fix Officers will complete routine property inspections across 200 nominated dwellings, supported by one of our CHL Housing Officers. They will complete a range of extra fixes and minor adjustments, in addition to our standard maintenance and repairs support team, to improve the home for our customers to enjoy.
All of our Test and Fix Officers are CHL customers and local community members, with no prior experience needed for the role as we provide all the training needed.
We’re proud to be working with the Aboriginal Health Unit to provide training, support and paid employment for our customers as part of the Test and Fix Pilot Program. It contributes significantly to CHL’s capability in community engagement and development, demonstrating how we create more than houses. We want to create homes, where our customers feel a sense of belonging and community and they’re supported to thrive.
