We provide long-term secure rental tenancies for people who pay subsidised market rate*. (Please refer to the CHL Rent Setting Policy for more information.)
As an alternative to private rental, our services ensure that people who have low incomes can find a dependable housing arrangement so their children can attend the local school, the parent or parents can maintain employment or study, and the family can generally have enough money to live on.
We have five core offices in the State being Parramatta, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour.
Around 20% of our tenants are from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, 34% of our tenants are people with disability and 34% of our tenants are our elderly.
At CHL, we have specialist workers on staff so customers can choose to speak to a youth specialist or Aboriginal specialist.

Customers can also apply over the phone by calling the Housing Contact Centre on 1800 422 322.
Customers who need assistance with their social housing application can phone CHL on 1300 CHL HOUSING (1300 245 468) or visit their local CHL office.
During business hours, customers in the Port Macquarie Hastings, Kempsey and Nambucca local government areas are encouraged to contact CHL directly by phoning 1300 CHL HOUSING (1300 245 468) or visiting their local CHL office.

Management of over 1,300 tenancies on the Mid North Coast transferred to CHL from the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) in November 2018. In addition, CHL is now responsible for responding to people seeking housing assistance with the region.
Customers in the Port Macquarie Hastings, Kempsey and Nambucca local government areas who need housing assistance can now access a range of services directly from CHL.
