Maryborough Anglican Parish – CHL Partnership

Homelessness and disadvantage is often a hidden experience in our communities, but thanks to the awareness and generosity of the congregation at the Maryborough Anglican Parish, a member of Anglicare, Christmas was a lot brighter for many families.

Homelessness and disadvantage is often a hidden experience in our communities, but thanks to the awareness and generosity of the congregation at the Maryborough Anglican Parish, a member of Anglicare, Christmas was a lot brighter for many families this year.

Through their annual Giving Tree appeal, parishioners have donated hundreds of beautiful presents for children whose families are struggling. Once again the church has partnered with CHL QLD to make Christmas presents available to our tenants’ families. Through the Homelessness and Housing Programs we deliver in Maryborough, we are able to direct their generous gifts to children in families who could use a little extra help this Christmas.

After nearly 10 years, this partnership has become a tradition that serves our community in a wonderful way and gives people the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. This year CHL QLD has provided supported accommodation assistance to around 50 homeless families, and parishioners went to a lot of trouble to select gifts that are gender and age appropriate for the families we are working with. Within our tenancies on the Fraser Coast there are around 200 accompanying children who will benefit this year.
