CHL believes in establishing working relationships with local service organisations to engage residents in local community activities
Located in Ferntree Gully, this 79 unit development has been designed and constructed by Community Housing (Vic) Ltd (CHVL).
The development is part of the Nation Building and Economic Stimulus Project, located on the site of the old Ferntree Gully Primary School.
The project is jointly funded by the Federal and State Governments.
It is a seventy nine unit medium density development consisting of forty one single bedroom units, forty two bedroom units and six three bedroom units.
The site is owned by the Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS). However it is planned that the site will be head leased to CHVL to manage both the site and the tenancies.
The residents are a part of a local community initiative which involves developing and maintaining a community vegetable garden. The residents manage the garden themselves, sharing the produce and have a market garden arrangement with neighbouring residents and visitors,
CHL believes in establishing working relationships with local service organisations to engage residents in local community activities and in this case has linked in with Mountain District Learning Centre (MLDC) who share CHL’s vision of building stronger and sustainable communities to encourage and support residents to initiate ideas.
