CHL attended a sod turning with the Hon Mick de Brenni, Minister for Housing and Public Works, for the new Gold Coast Youth Foyer that will deliver 40-units for young people aged between 16-25 years.
The foyer model provides intensive 24-hour support and each young person will engage in training, education or employment opportunities.
These young tenants will be supported to gain essential, practical life skills to help them transition into mainstream accommodation and live independently.
Young people will need to be in employment, education or training to be eligible to live at the youth foyer. They will also pay 25% of their income in rent.
This is a Queensland Government Department of Housing and Public Works initiative that we will deliver in partnership with the Gold Coast Youth Service, who are the support provider and Horizon Housing / CHL that will provide the tenancy and property management service.
There is no construction date yet, but watch this space.
Exciting times ahead!
