The Minister for Housing, the Hon Matt Brown MP, announced that a further five high quality housing organisations have successfully applied to become community housing growth providers.
Blue CHP Ltd*, Compass Housing Services Co Ltd, Community Housing Limited, North Coast Community Housing Co Ltd and South Western Inner Sydney Housing Co-operative join two other housing organisations previously appointed as growth providers. Together they will manage a substantial growth in community housing for low and moderate income families and individuals.
The new growth providers were selected following a competitive tender process and will be offered a significant proportion of new community housing supply over the next three to four years in areas of high need across the state.
“This important initiative will contribute to achieving the NSW Government’s commitment to more than double the size of the community housing sector over the next ten years from 13,000 to over 30,000 homes” said the Minister.
In addition, all growth providers will also have access to the Affordable Housing Innovations Fund which supports projects in which providers bring both debt funding and equity to create affordable housing.
Housing NSW will work closely with the new growth providers to ensure they develop the necessary skills to take full advantage of such opportunities.
“The appointment of these additional growth providers is another important step in the government’s strategy to provide more social and affordable housing to those most in need, and at the least cost to taxpayers.”
