World Class Shared Supported Disability Accommodation at Frankston

 

Community Housing Ltd has opened a world class shared supported disability accommodation in Frankston north.  Designed, built and managed by Community Housing Ltd the innovative high quality development consists of a 6 bedroom home inclusive of 2 semi-independent units under one roof line. This architecturally designed home supports 6 people between the ages of 17- 27 with complex support needs. The development is SDA compliant under the NDIS.

The innovative development includes the following:

  • 2 x 1 bed self-contained (bathroom, sitting room and kitchenette)
  • 2 x 1 bed with ensuites
  • 2 x 1 bed with sitting rooms (staff assisted shared bathroom)
  • Support provider office + sleepover
  • Special Disability baths and beds
  • Full adaptable for wheelchair access

CHL will be responsible for the on-going property and tenancy management while Karingal Inc will provide the ongoing 24 hours support.

Funding of $1.391 million was provided under the Victorian Government’s ‘Innovative Accommodation and Support Initiative’ (IASI) to CHL with Karingal Inc. further securing ongoing support funding to support those living in this home. The land has been provided by Frankston City Council on a long term lease.

This project is a result of a collaborative partnership between CHL, Frankston Peninsula Carers Inc. (FPC Inc), the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Frankston City Council (FCC) and Karingal Inc.
