Steve Bevington presented with ‘Outstanding Achievement’ Award

Community Housing Ltd’s Managing Director, Steve Bevington was announced the winner of the “Outstanding Achievement” award at the 2017 Victorian AHI Awards presentation last month.

He was recognised for his significant contribution to the creation of a strong, vibrant, diverse and competitive community housing sector in Australia.

It was said that the effectiveness of Steve’s leadership has been due to his steady and sustained focus on a vision of ‘a world without housing poverty’ that he has pursued for the last 30 years. While ensuring that CHL has remained a going concern, he has respectfully led the housing industry on a journey outside their comfort zone in order to make progress.

Under Steve’s stewardship, CHL has taken its responsibility as a sector leader seriously and sought to collaborate and support the growth of industry associations at state and national levels providing incisive and creative analysis, giving freely his time and energy for the common good of the sector.

He works and travels tirelessly to make affordable housing a reality for those most in need wherever in the world they may be.  In Steve’s words, “throughout Australia- and around the word – there is an ongoing need for affordable housing solutions. Meeting that need will always be fraught with challenges – but CHL is committed to overcoming them and will continue to do so long after my time.”

Steve will now join winners from other States and New Zealand for the National Awards to be held in Sydney on November 29.

In its 14th year, the Australasian Housing Institute Awards recognise excellence in professional practice in social housing.  AHI has received more than 140 entries this year alone.
