As Community Housing Ltd (CHL) continues to build its business in Western Australia and South Australia, the organisation is seeking to develop new partnerships with subcontractors in Perth and Adelaide across a range of areas. This is an extension of its community engagement model of only developing projects in a given area once it has established working relationships with a local affordable housing interest group, local service organisations, and local social service agencies.
As a vertically integrated business, CHL sources funding, locates land, develops projects, designs and constructs housing, and then manages the housing and its tenants for the long term. It therefore looks to develop partnerships in all these areas in order to deliver successful affordable and sustainable housing outcomes.
“Regardless of where we are in the country, CHL depends on a range of service providers to assist in anything from construction and landscaping, to social support agencies and interest groups for tenants,” says CHL’s Managing Director Steve Bevington.
“For example, we currently have 300 subcontractors that we employ around the country that work with our design and construction division which is based in Epping, Victoria,” he says.
“But as our reach into new states and territories continues, and our capacity to build new housing increases, we need to continue to build relationships with professionally run businesses that understand how to work in the affordable housing sector.”
