The Tasmanian Government today announced Community Housing Ltd as one of the two preferred affordable housing providers for Tasmania. CHL will now build and manage affordable housing stock across the State. The Tasmanian Government announcement follows the Rudd Government’s launch of the National Rental Affordability Scheme which has the national goal of constructing 100,000 new affordable homes across the next 10 years.
CHL’s first project in Tasmania involves the construction of 50 two-bedroom units that will be dotted across the northern Tasmanian region which will include towns such as Launceston, Burnie, La Trobe, and Ulverstone.
Delighted to hear the announcement, Mr. Steve Bevington, Founder and Managing Director of CHL said, “CHL is extremely proud to be selected as one of the preferred affordable housing providers in Tasmania, CHL has demonstrated capabilities and experience in the affordable housing sector. This is in line with our commitment to partner with governments across Australia in creating new affordable housing and our endeavor to minimize the housing shortage faced by people today. We would like to congratulate the Tasmanian Government for taking such an assertive position in resolving the Housing crisis and moving swiftly towards achieving the goal.”
Speaking about CHL’s national success, Steve says “the organization believes in an innovative and best practice approach to projects. By investing in local communities to create sustainable and affordable housing, CHL believes that this results in communities which retain a greater diversity, and creates a richer community experience.”
